As the visit begins, Mrs. Zhang appears guarded and uncomfortable, looking away and not speaking. Her daughter, Meiling, speaks first.
Meiling wants her mother to see an oncologist for treatment, as the gastroenterologist recommended, but says that Mrs. Zhang is refusing. Meiling is alarmed by the 25 pounds her mother has lost in the last three months.
