Telehealth in the Home

Proliferation of portable technologies has introduced many ways to monitor patients at home and engage them and their families in efficient symptom management and disease monitoring.

Many comprehensive telehealth systems provide a series of peripheral devices (e.g., pulse oximeter, portable spirometer, digital weight scale) that allow capturing of vital signs and transmission of data into a secure server accessible to a clinical site, hospital, doctor’s office or home care agency.

In some cases, such systems may also provide a video feature allowing for live videoconferencing between patients’ homes and clinical sites.
